The New Orleans Hornets were once struggling, still struggling. They were originally known as the Charlotte Hornets. They couldn't notch at least 30 wins until their fourth season. That was before a new era began. First, they drafted power forward Larry Johnson as the #1 pick in 1991, who won Rookie of the Year. Then in 1992, they selected powerhouse center Alonzo Mourning with the second pick. They paired up with shooting guard Kendall Gill to finally make the playoffs in 1993. They also got the team's first winning record in that season too. In 1995, they notched a 50+ win season. The era would end as Mourning gets traded to the Miami Heat the following season for Glen Rice. Glen Rice made the biggest impact though. With Vlade Divac and Johnson's help, they stomped through 3 straight 50+ win seasons, and making back to back playoffs for the first time in the team's history. The team continued to be successfull, getting 40+ wins for the remaining seasons they were in Charlotte. Then they moved to New Orleans, where Chris Paul led them to the playoffs four times. Their overall record is 939-998 (.485). Their best season was their 2007-2008 season, where they got 56-26 (.683), and their worst season was their 2004-2005 season, where they got an 18-64 (.220) record. They haven't won any championships yet and they've retired two jersey numbers. 7 (Pete Maravich) and 13 (Bobby Phills).
