The Dallas Mavericks were the second proffesional team to come to Dallas, after the Chapperals moved to San Antonio in 1973. In the mid to late 80's the Mavericks had a quality team in the competitive Western Conference, with the roster including Mark Aguirre, Brad Davis, Rolando Blackman, Sam Perkins, and Detlef Shrempf. They made it into the Western Conference Semifinals twice, and the Western Conference Finals once, but was kept out of post season success by the "Showtime" Lakers. Then things got ugly. From 1991-2000, the Mavericks didn't make it to the playoffs and never got a season above .500. They won less than 15 games twice during this period. But for the next eleven years, almost the opposite happened. From 2001-2011, the Mavericks always won at least 50 games, and made two finals appearances, winning one of them. This success mostly due to stars Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd, but had other important players like Shawn Marion, Tyson Chandler, J.J. Barea, and Caron Butler. Their overall record is 1311-1286 (.505). Their best season was their 2006-2007 season where they got an amazing 67-15 record (.817) and their worst season was their 1992-1993 season where they managed an embarrasing 11-71 (.134) record. They've retired two jersey numbers. 15 (Brad Davis) and 22 (Rolando Blackman).
