When I see Miami Heat fans, I automatically think "bandwagoner", because the team is so cheap. They weren't always this good though. The team started operations in 1989. They felt the pressure of being a new franshise, and they suffered for it, until Alonzo Mourning came along in the late 90's. He was their defensive beast and lead the Heat to its first conference finals in 1997. The Heat was also gaining respect racking up several 50+ win seasons during this period. They briefly declined after Mourning left in 2002, but then Dwyane Wade was drafted and Shaquille O'Neal was obtained, forming a formidable duo. They won their first title in 2006. But after they won their title, injuries plagued the team. O'Neal was traded and they fell to rock bottom. They overhauled the roster, and by 2010, another era emerged, The Big 3. The Big 3 (Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh) hauled together succesfull seasons and two finals appearances in a row, winning one of them. Their overall record is 977-959 (.505). Their best season was their 1996-1997 season, where they got 61-21 (.744) and their worst seasons was their 1988-1989 season and their 2007-2008 season where they got 15-67 (.183). They have retired 3 jerseys. 10 (Tim Hardaway), 23 (Michael Jordan), and 33 (Alonzo Mourning).
