The Cleveland Cavaliers have been around since 1970. They started as a sub-par team who didn't have a winning season until 1976. The team, led by Bingo Smith and Dick Snyder helped to slowly improve the team, getting three winning seasons in a row in the late 70's. Until 1986, when they obtained Brad Daugherty and Mark Price did they have their first taste of real success. They led the team to the playoffs three times in a row. In 1989, they almost knocked out Jordan's Bull's right out of the playoffs, but an unlucky block attempt by Craig Ehlo stopped their run. The departures of Daugherty and Price in 1993 started a decade of struggle for the team in the post season. Until 1998, the team had winning seasons, recording 5 in row, but they struggled in the playoffs. And from 1998 to 2005 the team missed the playoffs. Finally, in 2007, Lebron James led the team to its first finals appearance, but they lost it. Their overall record is 1565-1848 (.459). Their best season was their 2008-2009 season, where Lebron James led them to an impressive 66-16 (.805) record. Their worst season was also their first, the 1970-1971 season where they stumbled to get 15-67 (.183). They've retired 7 (Bingo Smith), 22 (Larry Nance), 25 (Mark Price), 34 (Austin Carr), 42 (Nate Thurmond), 43 (Brad Daugherty), and a microphone for broadcaster Joe Tait.
